Yankees Deadline Grade

Yankees Grade: C+

Well I already had this blog all typed out but blogger decided it hates me and deleted it, so thanks Blogger.

The Yankees were very quiet this year. Rumors were surfacing right up to the 4 pm ET deadline. Rumors of the Yankees getting relievers Craig Kimbrel (31 saves 2.83 ERA) and Red Cuban Missle Aroldis Chapman (21 saves 1.65 ERA) who can light up the radar gun. But the Yankees weren't looking to deal the most wanted players. The most desired players were Luis Sevirno (7-0) who has since been announced to be getting the call to the majors and starting Wednesday against the Red Sox. And Aaron Judge who has been involved in many trade talks but the Yankees aren't willing to deal him.

Possibly though my most disappointing thing for me night is the Yankees lack of interest in the newest Mets outfielder Yoenis Cespedes. The guy would've been perfect. .295 batting average and 18 home runs. But his defense would've been one of the biggest things. Replace Carlo Beltran with him and then ship Carlos Beltran for maybe even a decent relief pitcher. Cespedes has a cannon for an arm and could sit right in front of the Yankees short right field porch and save runs while producing them. Beltran has been mediocre batting .261 and injured almost every week so Cespedes would be a major improvement right? The Yankees thought differently. And that's alright. But if Beltran blows a game don't say I didn't tell you so.

The Blue Jays really decided it's now or.never with the addition of Troy Tulowitzki (.303 avg 13 HR) and pitcher David Price (2.53 ERA). Tulo quickly showed why he was such a big pickup with a homerun in his second at bat as a Blue Jay. With a new bag and more depth to their rotation the Blue Jays could be a scary team in the race.

The Yankees definetley decided that if its not broken don't fix it. Now let's just hope they can stay atop that 5 game lead on in to October. The reason for the C+ is they didn't get better but didn't get worse. Now everything needs to keep going as planned especially since we are down a pitcher for 2 weeks without Big Mike. But this team has been surprising thus far hopefully they can keep rolling.

Cardinals vs Rockies Wild Game 1

It's rare to see 17 runs scored in a game at Busch Stadium, buts that's not the only strange thing to happen in the series opener last night. Yet again last night, the Cardinals gave up a home run to the opposing pitcher. With two outs and a runner on, Cardinals lead at 4-2, Carlos Martinez grooved a pitch to the Rockies pitcher Chris Rusin who hit a home run to tie the game.

Negatives: Carlos Martinez was not good last night. C-Mart gave up 10 hits for 5 ER in just 5 innings pitched. He seemed to lack the energy he usually pitched with, just couldn't get himself fired up. I don't think this will be a concern for the future, just didn't have his best stuff that day. Also with an off day, Randal Grichuk was not seeing the ball well in the outfield as he misread two fly balls that ended up dropping in front of him that he would normally catch. He also missed the cutoff man on two of his throws home, giving the Cardinals a worse chance of getting the runner out at home. I also do not see concern of this in the future, as usually Grichuk is a very good defensive player, and was just having some trouble as some of the other Cardinals had. And Kevin Siegrist needs to learn how to throw a ball to a base. Last night, he fielded a bunt and turned to throw it to first base, but it was low and towards the outside of the bag and gave Moss no chance to catch it. Later in the inning he had a guy picked of at second base and made a bad throw to Matt Carpenter, and the runner scored. He also threw away a potential double play ball about a week ago, and with this issue, I do see future concern and this is definitely something that Siegrist needs to work on. Last night another possible run was given away when with two outs Jason Heyward rounded third base on a triple and got tagged out for out number three, just a mental mistake.

Positives: Matt Carpenter went 4-5 with 2 home runs, a double and 4 RBI. After a hot start to the 2015 season, Carpenter has struggled hitting when not in the leadoff spot of the lineup. Last night he was in the leadoff spot and hit very well, I expect him to not be moved from that spot. Also a guy that was struggling was Jhonny Peralta, who had 2 hits last night including a two RBI single that tied the game in the bottom of the 9th inning. Both were a big part of the comeback with Carpenter getting it started with a double in the last inning and Peralta tying the game. I believe and I hope that this was the game that gets the both of them back on track.

And of course with everything happening last night the game couldn't end with a normal walk off hit but a walk off walk. This was Greg Garcia's second career walk off that wasn't a hit, he also got hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in a tie game last year against the Cubs. The Cardinals came back from an 8-6 deficit in the 9th inning to win it and in my opinion was one of the best wins of the year because it happened after two straight loses and the Cards just kept battling back after making mistakes. I can't wait to see what game two of the series brings!

Cardinals Get Trade Raped... Or Did They?

Look, I know it's too early to say that the trade for Brandon Moss was a bad trade, but at the moment, it doesn't look too appealing. It's not often that you see your no. 3 ranked prospect get traded for a guy batting .217 with a sub .300 OBP. But as John Mozeliak has proven throughout the years, he is one of the best GMs in the majors, and I trust his decision to make the trade. Moss does have some power with 15 home runs and 20+ in each of the last three seasons, but I would've liked to see a player with a higher BA. His strike out rate is also 28%, and Mark Reynolds' is 30%, and we all know how much Reynolds strikes out. Do we really need another Reynolds?

This trade reminds me of the trade to acquire Justin Masterson, also from the Indians. When he was traded to the Cards he had just 4 wins and a 5.51 ERA. But as some might remember, this trade only led up to another trade to acquire John Lackey from the Red Sox, we can only hope that there is another trade Mo is working on that will give the Cardinals an offensive lift. And with the Rockies coming to Busch, maybe Carlos Gonzalez will not be leaving after the series with the Rockies.

I do hope that Moss will fit in in St. Louis, and play better in this situation. It is always possible for a player to play bad in one place and well in another, we saw it happen with Josh Hamilton, and hopefully we see it with Brandon Moss in St. Louis. Good luck Brandon Moss and welcome to Cardinal Nation!

The Yankees... Contenders or Content?

Those damn Yankees. When the hell will they go back to getting things done and making big time moves? My hope is soon but I don't thinks it's going to be in the near future. Sure we are sitting atop the AL East with a 6.0 game lead but that can go fast. Cashman is telling us that they aren't trading just when we start to believe they will actually do it. And the Blue Jays are coming way out of left field getting Tulo and Price. I'd be lying if I were to say I'm not even the slightest bit worried about them. After all they got "an eintire country rooting for them." I thought Canadians only cared about pussy sports like curling... We'll have fun in Toronto David.
"Wait I have to spend money and trade people to make us better? Ridiculous."

Cardinals Looking to Trade for 1st Baseman

The cardinals have been shutout two straight games, and they were both at Busch, where they have the best home record in the majors. The last five games, the Cardinals have scored 1,2,4,0,0 runs, and the only runs scored on Monday came from one hit, Kolten Wong's grand slam. The worst part about this too, is that the pitching has been good, really good. John Lackey on Wednesday night got the loss going 8 innings, giving up just 2 hits and 1 run, off a Jay Bruce solo shot in the 2nd. St. Louis had just four hits each in the last 2 games. They need to get a guy with a solid, consistent bat, specifically at the first base position.

One player I would like the Cardinals to trade for would be Adam Lind of the Brewers. Lind is hitting .285 with 91 hits, 16 homers and 60 RBI. If we were to get Lind, I would expect someone like Jon Jay or Peter Bourjos to be traded. I have seen that the Brewers might trade Carlos Gomez and have also seen the name Gerardo Parra being talked about in trade conversations which means they would need an outfielder if one of them were to be traded. But, the Cardinals and Brewers being in the same division, makes this trade less likely to happen.

Another guy that has been talked about in possible Cardinals trades is Chris Davis from the Orioles. Davis is hitting .243 with 85 hits, 24 homers and 65 RBI. I'm not sure who the Cardinals would trade for Davis, maybe some prospects. But of the two I would rather see the Cardinals go for Lind because of batting average and on base percentage, but either one, I think, would help the Cardinals with their offense and help them win the division and make a push towards the World Series.

White Socks

What is the problem with white socks? I'm not talking about the baseball team, but actual socks. As the years pass, you see less and less people wearing white socks. Black socks have taken over this generation of white males and have become a part of American culture.

Right now, to yourself, you're probably thinking, "what is the point of this blog, is this guy nuts?", but fam, this is all about race. When was the last time you saw a white man wear white socks? It was probably your grandpa or some other old person. When was the last time you saw a black man wear white socks? Probably earlier today. These are facts cuzzo. You see, black people wearing white socks and white people wearing black socks is all about embracing one another's race. It might sound crazy but you can't say that this doesn't makes sense, because it does famo, embrace it. The next time you put on socks just think, this is what MLK would want.

Chris Paul rocks the hell out of those. So that is why Black People-1 White people-0.

Papa Bucky T

Welcome to the fam

So this family is a bit different than you're shitty family that you're embarrassed to be seen in public with. We are cool as shit. We'll chatter about sports and shit not talk about how big of a pussy you were when you were 4. Just like your racist conservative grandfather and your Obama supportin Dad we are not going to agree a lot but guess what that's why America is bad ass.

So sit back have some pie and enjoy famo.
